Update: Chicopee High Off Lockdown After Threat Made Against School: Superintendent

Update: Chicopee School Superintendent Alvin W. Morton said Chicopee High School has been taken off lockdown. The school was cordoned off by police as they investigated a threat made against the facility Tuesday morning, Feb. 14.

Officers ruled the threat not credible and reopened the high school after about two hours, Morton said in a Facebook post

Chicopee police announced Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, that they had put Chicopee High School on lockdown just before 10:30. 

Police did not elaborate why they took the measure but said it was precautionary as they investigated a "reported threat."

A call to the Chicopee Police Department for more information was not immediately returned.
